Muscle Spasms

I did as my potassium kept going low. I drink gatoraide and take salt tablets for this. Both prescribed by my neurologist. Please check with you doctor but the salt tablets help me. Good Luck.

I have muclespasms both day and night. I am bedridden 24 hours a day except for trips to comod. My spasms can be quite violent as in flossing my teeth my arms spasm can cut right through my gums or pullout a weak tooth. My spasms that occur in both arms can be so violent they can damage my cheek or eye if struck. I have excruciating pain in my feet and ankles and knees on both legs which can be mostly red but can turn white when using the AC on high and the feet fans on high. Life is difficult, I could never work. Basically laying here to die.Good Luck, Good strength du ring this path through EM.

Hi!

I get awful cramps in my feet and toes at night. Not sure if it's related or not.

Poor Mike, sounds horrendous.

Hi Mike! I completely feel your pain I've been battling spasm for a while too. I've found that taking a Magnesium supplement really helps. It doesn't make me fatigued or groggy at all but for some, magnesium can cause stomach aches, that went away pretty quickly and it was worth not having spasms. I hope this helped!!!

I also had muscle cramps in my feet and shoulder. I take 200mg of magnesium four times a day. It has really helped. My doctor convinced me to up the dose, I was taking it only three times a day.

I have what I call Charlie Horse, or cramps. Have been doing my best to maintain fluid levels and taking Potasium. Also eat bananas (potasium). I have the issue on my left side. Had an issue with my lower back. Then my upper leg. Finally in my calf area. I can NOT sleep on my left side because of this. Only my right. It is much better than it was 2 weeks ago.

Hi, Mike. So I guess you have the answer to your first question--lots of us have muscle spasms. My worst ones are in my calf muscles, but I too get that weird toe-curling thing. I think it's related to my peripheral neuropathy, but I'm not sure how much difference there is between that and EM.

The only thing I've found that helps is elemental magnesium (that is, not magnesium oxide, which is the common form). I get "Doctor's Best 100% Chelated Magnesium." Not a cure, but it helps, and it's cheap and as no side effects!

I get muscle spasms and cramps in my calves and arch of my feet, sometimes the ball of my feet.

I didn't realise this was related until I read these posts. I get cramps in my feet, my toes curl and won't move, plus I get twitching in my left thigh keeps jumping when I am sat and then just stops.
