This wouldn't be strange for me MissPatti.
My EM moves all over my body willy nilly! There is no rhyme or reason. Sometimes it is hands or feet , face or knees and others strange places like the back of my arms or chest. It is often bilateral but also appears just on one side or the other. It usually picks one or two different locations and attacks those for a few weeks or more then switches it up going after a couple of different locations. I have it all over my body but I feel fortunate that it almost never attacks it all at once.
I hope your new Med help you Wanderer.

Hi Nel,
I've had EM for 15 years now on my hands & feet. But, this winter it started on my face which included my nose & ears. But, strangely, tonight it was just my nose that was red & burning!
Hi Mads - when you mention that the facial EM flares can sometimes resemble harlequin but without the sweating; that's really interesting. EM seemed to focus a lot around my face end of last winter .. will see what will happen this winter. often the redness / burning will effect one cheek, one side of face near ear or jawline and cheek; it can also effect across my nose and cheeks - and semi-resemble butterfly rash as seen in SLE (however it isn't a rash - definitely flushing which feels the same as other flares and is eased by cooling), and just recently came across harlequin syndrome / sign - I was like - My gosh! wow! I get that half (sometimes 3 /4 of face covered with very distinct lines / divides) - however couldnt relate to any of the other symptoms from syndromes which Harlequin sign is connected.
I didnt think it could be EM related - but makes sense - since flushing can be bilateral or unilateral - e.g. can effect one ear, or both my ears.
This isn't the most flattering close up haha ... but you might be able to see that my face is flushed except for one upper quadrant of face - with almost a line down forehead. (betting this may not show up / be visible - but thought I'd include it). The red on my face was a strong red ( of course the one colour that cameras cant capture properly seems to be red. *grumbles*) ;)
Or a different pattern:
Hi Wanderer,
Nope! you're not alone :) Whilst my dermatologist is still exploring things - she has admitted that EM is likely. So whilst i dont have an official, final 'nod' that yes, its 100 percent EM.. we are fairly certain.
My ears burn up too.
Sometimes just one side,.. often both sides at once.
