Anyone have migraine headaches and general feeling of fatigue?

I am wondering if there is a connection--I have primary erythro. Anyone else have this? Thank you:)

Yes I, who have been headache free almost all of my life, have in recent months had a lot of headaches and most recently successive migraines. Have just had work done on my Aortic Valve and until I saw your message I wondered if these things were associated with that. Have diagnosed Erythromelalgia.

The trouble is that any chronic illness is likely to produce the fatigue. I know I feel exhausted much of the time but EM doesn’t allow any quality of sleep so I can’t expect different. I do have migraines too, a bad one today wiped me out but I had my first migraine aged about 25 and EM only in my 60s so a connection is hard to pin down. I am being investigated for familial EM which would make it primary.

Mine is primary, starting in adolescence:( I am having a heck of migraine today, and it just occurred to me that maybe there was a link, that is true that and chronic illness WOULD cause fatigue, and thereby making everything worse--like dominoes:( I;m sorry you have to deal w/ the headaches, too!!!

I hope so too for your sake!! Interesting you had the flare right before the headache:(

I too suffer from constant fatigue and frequent headaches and migraines :(

Hello Bear3303.

I get migraines and fatigue too. I haven't had migraines until my health issues started about 5 years ago. It has been an especially bad week for my migraines. It is hard to say that EM is the cause. Migraines are caused by several issues

  • Central nervous system disorder. An underlying disorder may set off a migraine episode when the disorder is triggered.
  • Vascular problem. Irregularities in the brain’s blood vessel system may cause migraines.
  • Genes. Having a family member who experiences migraine headaches increases your risk for having migraines, so researchers suspect an inherited gene may cause migraines.
  • Chemical abnormalities. Several types of brain chemicals and nerve pathways are active during a migraine headache. Abnormalities in any of these areas may cause migraine.

Just to name a few. As you can see blood disorders and neurological problems may cause these and EM is also caused by these disorders. It very well may be that whatever is the cause of your EM may also cause migraines. I would think this is more likely than EM being the cause. I know EM can be primary and it is all you have but it is common to have an underlying medical problem that is causing the EM and often this underlying condition also causes many other symptoms.

I hope they ease up for you soon.

I started suffering with the occasional migraine many years ago. But about 5yrs ago they started becoming cluster migraines lasting for about 3 days and reoccurring at least once a week. . My symptoms of em started 3 1/2 years ago. Not sure if there is a connection there. Back in Sept my doctor started me on propranolol for the migraine and I only get one a week now. As for the fatigue, absolutely! I have major fatigue during a flare and for awhile after. Wich really sucks because my flares have been lasting for months at a time.
