Hi,
Do you know if your EM is primary or secondary? Just wondering with you saying about your heritage/background. I can’t understand how they were more prone to cellulitis infections from cold water unless it’s because there was direct contact with the water rather than protecting with things like freezer bags etc.
My other question is I know it’s hard but do you give time without cooling as if you don’t your circulation will slow down and cause other problems.

Hi again sheltielife
I’m not sure if I have secondary or primary…
…I can’t find a doctor in this area that cares to even find out (San francisco Bay Area) …they just send me home with pain pills and say they think it’s EM …I have more follow ups so I’m hoping I find out more soon ASAP
I’ve been dealing with EM for over a year now
I myself think it’s secondary because I wasn’t born with it
??!
I just got back from Stanford and they had a team examine me and that was their conclusion from what they all saw on my feet …that I have EM aswell as five other things going on from a result of soaking my feet
They said I’m from Northern Europe and That were more prone to trench foot etc …
I know weird …
As far as infection is …I don’t know the bags are not fool proof …they brake in the water sometimes(I have big feet yikes??) or they are made with tiny holes sometimes so it’s impossible to keep your foot from getting wet
Hi,
You say you weren’t born with it, but just because you didn’t have symptoms at birth doesn’t mean that it isn’t primary most times it can take many years for symptoms to appear.
As for the plastic bags have you thought of purchasing the proper ones that people have to use in the shower or bath when they can’t get bandages wet etc. Mine are prescribed by the district nurses to who dress my ulcers. They have a rubber band at the top so that they seal well and the plastic is very thick I shouldn’t think you would damage them. If you put something in Google like plastic protection from water for showering I am sure you will get some results.
Of course I can’t help with recommending a doctor in your area, but I am pretty sure there is a discussion on her people recommending doctors so maybe you might find one in your area that way.
Good luck

Thanks for the idea of the bags!!
Wow never knew about such thing
Just found them through google
Thank you again so much
So glad I could help. I wouldn’t have known of them either had it not been for my ulcers on my legs and feet, so maybe me having them has helped you!
