Doctor would not diagnose EM

So, I went to my neurologist Wednesday for migraines and he saw in my record where I was referred to a rheumatologist. I was glad he opened that window for me to explain what was going on. I explained everything I had been going through since I was a teenager and told him I think I have EM. He then told me that it is rare in such a way that he didn't think I would have it. I showed him the photos I have taken of my feet and said if I did have it, I would have to go somewhere like the Cleveland Clinic or Vanderbilt for diagnosis and treatment, in other words, he simply didn't want to give me that diagnosis. I don't know where to turn. I was given a prescription for a 75 mg of Lyrica but I'm going to be in a battle with my insurance company now to get them to pay for it. I' received some information from one of the sites on here that no doctors in the state of Kentucky could deal with this. What to do now?

Dr. Lee Anne Scalf in Lexington , Ky is a Dermatologist who did her fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic. She confirmed my diagnosis of EM. However, my treatment plan is done with a rheumatologist Dr. Hard in Lexington. I amher only EM patient but totogether we have learned a lot. I REALIZE it is a bit of a drive but at least it is in the same state. The dermatologist is very difficult to get in to see. If you would like use my name and I will explain the situation to her for you. Contact me by email. ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

That is Dr. HARDI. ON MY PHONE…AUTOCORRECT!

Sorry, you had trouble with getting a dx, lots of us had to see several specialists before getting a formal dx.! Had my dx for about 6 yrs now but new neurologist (MS specialist) I saw recently for MS dx said he's not so sure about it... then contradicted himself and asked why my feet were bright red and hot..! The sad thing is because it is so rare even some drs haven't heard of it let alone seen anybody with it.! I really hope you get the help you need soon.
