Environmental Toxins a possible cause of EM?

Hello All,

It has been a few years since I have participated…lots of life fallout.

Anyway, I was diagnosed with EM in 2014.

However, I was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC while in the USMC during the water poisoning. The identified containments are trichloroethylene (TCE), tetrachloroethylene (PCE), vinyl chloride (VC) and benzene.

Do any of you have any information of these chemicals causing EM?

Thanks so much,

Don Allard

It’s unlikely you’ll find anything EM specific, as erythromelalgia is quite rare. What you’d want to look at is peripheral neuropathy. A quick Google search shows most of those contaminants are associated with peripheral neuropathy.

Adult onset EM is likely caused by peripheral neuropathy in individuals susceptible to EM due to genetic mutation.

Thank you the information and response. I have done similar research with similar result. Again, thanks.
