Slushsucks, EM is triggered and worsened by heat, so no one with EM is likely to be able to fight their chilblains or Raynaud's with any kind of heat therapy. A heated insole sounds like absolute torture to me!
I agree with LibbyK. Even having Chiliblains if you have EM too you can’t use heat therapy. The consequence is just too painful! I would love to just have normal temp hands and feet but if I have to make a choice which I often do I have to choose the cold side of my problems. The EM brings me so much more pain than the Chiliblains and raynaud’s. I like to describe it as walking a temperature tightrope 24/7. I can’t depend on my body to make its natural adjustments to control my temp so I have to! I do try to make as minimal adjustments as possible so as not to send my body going to the extreme in the opposite direction! I am glad it is helpful for you. I hope you continue to stay as you are or get better!i hope this is not a precursor to EM as it does happen for some. Take care,
Alina
Thanks...how would I know if mine was turning into EM? I hadn't heard of this before...I've had Reynauds forever and Chilblains for about 25 years...in the past 5 years or so I have had to seek further treatment.
There is a great chance it never will. It’s quite rare. Especially with your having it for so long and it hasn’t happened. EM is the opposite where your blood vessels dilate excessively and your skin turns red and swells. Your skin turns hot to the touch and it’s extremely painful. It can feel as if you are being burned by a fire or frying pan. It also causes stabbing pain and a pressure with what feels like burning electric like needles. If it happened you would defiantly know. It also sounds like it could be causing this tightness in some ligaments usually after rest too. I don’t know that it’s caused by it for sure but it seems to be happening to a lot of us. I wouldn’t worry about it turning to EM but at least you know where to go if it does! Take care ,
