Somebody once said that it is possible that all of a sudden things could just disappear and not be any trouble. It's a while ago and I can't remember much about it now as there has been so much gone on. Let's all hope that might happen one day! I very much feel that more time should be spent by doctors attempting to find out the cause of secondary EM rather than just keep giving people various medications to ease the symptoms, which all come with their own side effects. I am pinning my hopes on an appointment on the 13th July a combined one with a vascular surgeon and an endo. I feel sure that if certain things were sorted out that my EM wouldn't be as bad as it is. I know I keep saying this but there are various causes of secondary EM and some of them can be helped by treatment rather than just drugs. As an example one of my things is a high red blood cell count which is causing me to have thick sticky blood. I have poor circulation and no pedal pulses. The blood gets there, but then the smaller veins and capillaries suffer. I had a blood test a JAK-2 genetic one and was told that if it was positive he would do blood letting which would thin my blood. However, it was negative and due to that he said no further treatment required! I fail to see why he didn't do the blood letting anyway no matter what the cause, as thinning my blood would solve that problem, which might ease my EM. My GP agrees with me on that. I think the reason he didn't do it was because I know it doesn't help I smoke! However, I had cut down to next to non until my husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer and whilst I was looking after him it went up again. The first vascular surgeon I saw said that trying to give up in my circumstances the stress of it would do more harm than smoking. The same goes for EM if you are under stress your EM will be worse. I was also on a diuretic for swelling of ankles etc. and I wasn't told to stop them. On reading up about thick blood it seems that they make things worse. So, with the agreement of my GP I stopped taking them. As people keep saying we need more doctors to be aware of EM as few are at the moment.
