Breakthrough with Magnesium

WOW! I’ll keep on with the mag. Thanks!

What type of magnesium are you taking?

Yeah ! What a happy post for us to read !
I haven’t tried yet. I am going to wait for the Mayo. But I am so glad that this works for you and brings much hope for others !

Enjoy your pain free days ! Live it up !

Hey Ron, I have an idea. Why not try another form of mag? There’s citrate, glycenate, carbonate, and other ates. Worth a try. Surely hope and pray you are not burning right now. P

We should be reminding people that anything they take should be cleared by their doctor. Even over-the-counter medications and supplements (especially supplements, because in most countries they are not regulated) can have adverse effects or interact with prescription medications.

What an interesting conversation! I have severe psoriatic arthritis, and suffered from really painful muscle spasms. I took magnesium citrate in the evening and got tremendous relief. (When I cleared it with my doc, she said "Won’t do any harm but I doubt it’ll do any good either. LOL)

I agree that people should check when taking medications and supplements. However, I think it’s safer to ask a pharmacist than a doctor. Of course I am only going off the UK but here pharmacists know far more about drug interactions than the doctors do, or even use the drug interaction checker on here… I learnt this from experience when my doc prescribed a new drug, normally I check that there are no interactions with my existing medication, but on this occasion I admit I didn’t do it. I was in a coma for 2 hours! When I did a check on drugs.com I found that the new one interacted with a medication I was already on and it said it could cause a coma or even death!

Sheltielife, you’re absolutely right. First ask the pharmacist. They are far more accessible than a doctor and they really are the specialists in drugs and their interactions. (And supplements are drugs.)

I think, after asking the pharmacist, I’d also mention it to the doctor. For good form.

I agree about telling the doctor as well as they need to know what drugs you are taking. On the subject of drugs another thing is I don’t know if other people do it but I use MedAlert and have a thing round my neck which says the drugs I am on and my health conditions in case of an emergency if I am not conscious.
