Can anyone recommend a doctor in northern California?

Has anyone found a doctor with experience treating EM in the Sacramento or San Francisco area? My regular doctor has finally agreed with my self-diagnoses of EM and is willing to refer to me a specialist. Thanks for any suggestions!

Sue,

My daughter Jama who is also on this board was diagnosed at UCSF the doctor I feel good about is Vanja Douglas. He is trying to learn as much as he can about EM. She has also seen Ann Poncelete. I think if a few of you get one doctor who really cares about helping people with EM you might get some better care. It is a hard disease to treat. Also on of the other women Jama has been in touch with is doing a program at the Chicago Pain Institute.

Always,

Grace

My health care is with the VA so I have no experience but, you can't go wrong with Stanford which is a lil out of your area. Also try yelp east bay.

Hi Sue,

I live about one hour north of the OR boarder in Northern CA. After 7years I found a neurologist in Chico, CA., Dr. Mcknight who is wonderful, understand EM and related illnesses. He also has the gift of "seeing" how they all work together. He only consult and screens out and then refers you to another Doc. I have been to Stanford Vascular Clinic, they are very good but UC Davis and the Mayo Clinic are the best! I hope this helps and good luck. Michelle

theres doctors at Stanford....thats the only place i know up here....and i had to drive 8 hrs to get there.....good luck

Thanks everyone, for the recommendations. MsLovelyNikki, do you have any specific doctors to recommend at Stanford? It's only about 2.5 hours from where I live, so it would be a good option.

Thank you Grace. I think going to UCSF might be a good option for me. I really appreciate the recommendation.

Thanks Dizzy. I'm leaning towards going to a doctor at UCSF, but Dr. McKnight might also be a good option. Chico is a little further away for me, but he sounds gifted. I really appreciate the recommendation.

You are so welcome. It is a long process getting treatment. If you go to Stanford check out Dr. Leeper. He is a vascular surgeon but a wonderful doc as well and can rule out many other issues. Best of luck :) michelle

I am looking for a Doctor the treats EM in San Diego Ca???

Hi PmRn,

Mads is building a list of doctors around the world, so it would be a good idea to send her a message, she might know a few.

There is one San Diego doc I've heard of, the famous Dr Jay Cohen!
