Exciting news !!! My brother Coach Chris Stamoulis and my nephew Kyle Stamoulis who plays on the varsity football team at St. Thomas Aquinas High School has approached the coaches and the football team to have an awareness day for Erythromelalgia for myself and all those that suffer from the disease ! The coaches and the whole team said yes and they are all excited to do this on their first varsity home game of the season! St. Thomas Aquinas vs Pelham Pythons is on Saturday, September 9, 2017, kickoff is at 2:00 p.m. at 197 Dover Point Road, Dover, NH. There will be an awareness speech at the beginning of the game and everyone will be handed a flyer when entering to bring much needed awareness of this disease ! The whole team has decided to place an emblem on their helmets for the entire season ! The emblem is the flame (my avatar now) representing the hot burning red pain we all feel and the letters EM in the middle which is the abbreviation of Erythromelalgia. This emblem will now be the emblem on all future campaigning that we do for this disease, so forever this remarkable football team will always be part of this and we will always remember their kindness and desire to help others in the world at such a young age! A big thank you to Coach Ryan Brown, Coach David Bryant, Coach Rich Clough and Coach Jeff Butts and of course Coach Chris Stamoulis ! A huge thank you to Kyle Stamoulis and the entire football team ! We are so very touched at your kindess and can’t thank you all enough for bringing awareness to the entire stadium field ! Family and friends will be attending. Everyone is welcome and we all hope you can make the game !
This appears on my facebook awareness page and I copied and pasted here so that everyone can see another awareness is happening now in the State of New Hampshire ! So many attend the high school varsity football game !
Well done @rayofhope that is fantastic. I live in Queensland, Australia, but I will be there in spirit. I am going in for surgery on the 8th September to have a Neurostimulator implanted in my spine to try help with my pain…we’ll try anything right. Anyway, I wish you all tge very best for the awareness campaign.
I wish you the best of luck on your surgery ! Interested to see how this will work for you…crossing my fingers and toes for you !
I haven’t yet given the thank you to them I’m a little behind but hope to this weekend. How did your surgery go? I hope that you are doing well.
Hi Rayofhope
I have been busy healing. It truly is a horrible surgury. I had a bit of trouble coming out of the anaesthetic and they couldn’t get me to breathe on my own. I’m back home now though and have managed to get a pain reduction from a scale of 9-10 daily in my feet down to a 7 and sometimes even a 5. We are still trying different programming with the stimulator because I have had nerve pain flare up in my left thigh. It’s painfully numb and waking me screaming in the middle of the night. It’s almost like the EM is fighting back.
I’m meant to return to work in 2 weeks but at this point I can’t see how that is going to happen at this stage.
How have you been?
Oh no! It seems you have been through so much. That must have been scary for you and your family. I hope that you are doing better now that you are home and I hope that the pain lessons too.
Hope you are feeling better by now.
