yep, my hands look like that, the second picture looks a lot like my hands lately. the swelling between finger and thumb wont go down. your feet look like mine too. it looks like you have the same marks as i have gotten you have one on your left foot top left corner below the toes and looks like you have one on your right foot near your shin/top of your ankle.
Tell me about it. My left leg has black spots on the shin. Were you born in 94? that would make you 20. You have plenty of time to feel unattractive when your older. The person who you can spend the rest of your life with will have to look past your "unattractive" parts and vice versa. Nobodys perfect so don't watch too much TV ;)

Thanks for the reply, Danny. If I stand too long, I get white and red splotche all over my legs that are eextremely unattractive.
i TOTALLY understand you guys. my feet turn purple/red/splotches everything every day! i am at school right now and they look horrible. whenever i try to get cold outside people look at my feet in shock from how they look.
Yes, this was just me standing 4 to 5 minutes, just wanted to put a picture up. Even at worst, mine are provably not near as bad as anyone on here. I do, however, feel the pain even if the pictures do not seem like it. I really don’t care what they look like when they hurt, it’s the pain that bothers me.
I didn't want to be rude, I was more like kidding. :) I feel you, the pain is the worst, who cares how it looks like :) Do you sleep well? I was unable to sleep for about 3 months in my worst times. (never believed this was possible, almost went insane.) Oh I remember one woman told me hey look at your legs, you should take more care of them, they look so ewwww. I'm not that kind of person but I wished her to get at least one EM flare to know how it feels :)
Glad you can sleep, one wouldn't believe how important sleeping is. I used to do it the same, pillow under the feet and no blanket/socks. My first sleep at home after the surgery I removed the pillow from under my feet and it felt just weird, sleeping "normaly" :) Have to say it's kind of a side-effect that I enjoy the sleeping more than ever before now. :)

I knew you weren't being rude! I can sleep if I have them on a pillow and they are not underneath any covers or anything.
I can occasionally have severe burning pain without any colour difference so the look often only tells part of the picture, other times they swell badly and turn bright red with the flares..!!

I see the difference, but still I don't find your feet/hands that bad. I'd say my feet/hands were almost okay when looking like yours. :)
I agree totally, I am far less woried about the look of the flare than the pain it causes..!

I felt like this when my (now ex) boyfriend kept telling me to stop my medication because it was practically sedating me all the time, I wanted him to live a week in my life just to see what it was like (I also have fibromyalgia)..!

I used to sleep with mine on a pillow but find that I sleep much better if I stick them just over the edge of the bed, not enough that they feel like they're hanging but just enough to not be touching anything at all.! liz said:

Thats what I do Laura. Unfortantely it's hard to stay that way while your sleeping right? I sleep with sleeping pills but otherwise I can only sleep for a couple hours at a time before I have curled my legs up and my feet are on the bed or I've put my hands under my covers and they start to flare. Lately my wrist and ankles have been hurting me so much also it's hard to get relief anywhere. I take trazadone to sleep and I just started Cymbalta with my effaxor, neurontin, and asprin. I've been sleeping 2 - 3 hours at a time, once at night usually around midnight to 1 am, then from 2 pm to 4 or 5 pm. Sometimes later and earlier depending on how I'm feeling. My feet swell up so much having them raised up so I don't think a pillow would help. Putting a cold towel on my feet before bed time helps me get to sleep faster too. I'm looking for menthol cream to cool my hands, does anyone know of any?

I don't use a fan. I keep my apartment at < 55 degrees F. If I used a fan I could get hypothermia. I also have a cat and I think the fan would be too much for her. In the summer time I sometimes do use a fan but now in the winter I don't have to.
