I'm wondering how many people have been diagnosed with primary EM after the age of 30? Also, are your flares bilateral, unilateral, or both?

I was diagnosed at age 68. My flares are bilateral, but my right lower leg, knee, foot and arm flare a lot more than my left side.

I was recently diagnosed at the age of 24. Primary EM and its bilateral. Often time one foot flares worse than the other, then as soon as it gets better the other one starts to flare.

When you say primary, if you mean genetically caused, then we don't know if that was a factor with my mom.

Mom was about 63 or 64 when diagnosed so she was over 30. But if you asking about the "genetic Nav 1.7" version of primary EM, I can't say she has that version of EM as she was never genetically tested.

Hers appeared suddenly and likely as a result to drug toxicity. It seems to be caused by neuropathy and autoimmune like factors possibly. But that is just our current take. So it's not secondary to a known treatable condition yet. If that means primary in the old sense then it is that.

She can have flares on both feet, or one foot or the other. Flares can extend up into the ankle and lower leg at times but are worse on the soles of her feet and toes. She may have hot flash like flares with little pain on her face as well and headaches and feel like her head is hot at times. She may have hot hands, but her hands are rarely swollen or red.

I was 44 and it’s both feet

It started when i was 30. I haven´t been genetically tested.

Diaganoseed at 60 probably had it a year before…reyands a year before that bit I have chronic Achilles tendonosis so that may be excaserbating the em
