Hi...Went to Dermatologist today..Dr Jorizzo and he has started me on a very low dose of Trifluoperazine. Was wondering if anyone here has taken this drug and if they had any good results?
I’m. Sorry Jen I haven’t. But will send this out to the group to see if someone else can be of help.
Take care
I just googled it to find out why it is used. Can you tell me why a dermatologist prescribed this for you? I would just like to understand it more.
Looks like it is being used for nerve pain in Neurobiology. It was just tested for nerve pain in sickle cell anemia patients 2013.

Hi Patti,
I am not 100 percent sure, but the dermatologist mentioned something about the brain and body miscommunicating. I believe he has prescribed this for others and some it has helped. He explained to me, that I take Lyrica and it is anti convulsant but it is being used for nerve pain. Everything is trial and error. I will be taking an extremely low dosage and if I benefit at all from this, I will definitely post.

Hi Alina,
Thank you. It would be interesting to know if anyone here has taken it and how they responded with it.

I also am a patient of Dr. Jorizzo. He prescribed that for me at a very low dose, and when I saw no effect from that, he had me take two pills a day. I also saw no effect from that, so I discontinued.
You could mention to him to try two different types in low dose, like Gabapentin and cymbalta, that is what I am trying, it helps some.
Hi Anne,
Thats good to know. If you don't mind me asking..how long were you on this? I am taking Lyrica and will continue to, as well as this new drug, but am a bit concerned because of the type of drug it is.

Hi Jon,
My pain management doctor had mentioned a combination of Lyrica and Cymbalta as a possible next step. But since I won't be seeing pain management for another month and had this dermatologist appt. I will first try this. Really feel like a guinea pig : (

I have been on Cylebrex 60 mg for about 6 months, just started Gabapentin in small dosage. I used to just take Gabapentin, but it did not work, and made me wonky, I am hoping that the combination will be more tolerated. It is helping with the pain…
We are all guinea pigs when it comes to treating this malady! My old Rheumy told me right before she retired, that the doctors just keep throwing medications at us, until one sticks…
Jon,
Yes unfortunately we are. Bad part is, what one combination of meds works for one person doesn't work for the next person. Just makes this harder to get a grip on. ; (

I tried one pill a day for two weeks, and two pills a day for three weeks. I couldn’t discern any physical or psychological effects from it.
