Hello! Do you mind sharing which foods seem to cause flares? Just as soon as I think I have it figured out a particular food that I associated flares with suddenly that food doesn't bother me and vice versa. Tomatoes are a given as is alcohol, so I avoid those at all cost. I also avoid garlic as it's a natural vasodilator. I've taken gluten and grains out of my diet, which seems to help some.... All responses are welcome! Maybe we can learn from one another. Appreciate any input you may give! :)
Hi Bootcamper - I've noticed that any day I have more sugar than usual (in my case usually chocolate!) I seem to flare quite a bit more. I typically have a very healthy diet , but over the holidays I definitely indulged. Now that I'm eating normally again, I've observed that the flares have lessened. It's such a bummer because chocolate is one of my favorite things! So I still have it occasionally but seem to pay the price for it. I've noticed this effect with other sugar-laden foods as well.

Just an interesting tip that may work for some was given to me by my Dermatologist, she suggested that I take a Claratyne tablet ( antihistamine tablet each day I feel that it has made a difference.in how bad the flares are. I have tried other brands I didnt feel like they worked as well not sure why!
Thanks for startiing this discussion,, look forward to hearing others thoughts on food sensitivty :)
I have found that all foods high in histamine have an immediate response. I especially have to avoid tomatoes, red wine, aged cheeses, vinegar and vinegar products. It certainly makes salad dressing a tough find. I have tried a supplement called Histamine. It was suggested from my dermatologist. It’s a dietary supplement that you take when you you are having foods with histamine…like when you are eating out. I bought it from Amazon and I do think it helps.
Hi all - What is the effect of caffeine in your diet? I believe it is a vasoconstrictor but since I am not a coffee, tea, or soda drinker I haven’t experienced its effects firsthand. Does it help or hurt you?
The only caffeine I have is first thing in the morning, which is a cup or two of black coffee. I tried drinking it in the afternoon thinking it might reduce the flares with the vasoconstricting effects, but unfortunately it didn’t do the trick. Always worth a try though!
